Apple is set to release iOS 18.3 next week, which will include improvements in Apple’s intelligence features, new capabilities for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 devices, along with bug fixes.
Although, like previous iOS 18 point releases, this update doesn’t bring major new features, iOS 18.3 still includes capabilities designed to make your iPhone smarter and more intuitive. Below, we’ve listed five new things your iPhone will be able to do once the update rolls out at the end of this month.
Perform Repeated Operations in the Calculator App

Apple is also using the iOS 18.3 update to restore the ability to repeat operations in the Calculator app. When you tap the equal sign twice, the app will repeat the last mathematical operation. For example, if you tap 10×10 and get a result of 100, tapping the equal sign again will give you 100×10, and tapping equal again will continue multiplying by 10. It’s a small but meaningful change that should make calculating compound interest easier.
Easily Identify Plants and Animals

Apple’s latest update also includes a feature that allows you to identify plants and animals using visual intelligence easily. You might already be familiar with a similar feature in the Photos app that provides information on plants, animals, and insects when viewing extra image details. With iOS 18.3 installed, you’ll be able to reveal these details in real time through the camera’s visual intelligence option.
Add Events to the Calendar from Posters or Flyers

For iPhone 16 models, iOS 18.3 adds visual intelligence support to the Calendar app, allowing you to add events directly from posters or flyers. After installing the software on your iPhone 16, simply long press the camera control button while viewing a poster or flyer. You’ll then be given the option to add the event to your Calendar app.
Easier Management of Notification Summaries

Available on devices compatible with iOS 18.1 and later, Apple Intelligence groups multiple notifications from the same app into one summary, providing a one-sentence overview of the content. In iOS 18.3, managing notification summaries for individual apps is even easier directly from your iPhone’s lock screen. A quick swipe left on a summarized notification now reveals an option to turn off the summary for the related app. You can also toggle the switch to re-enable the summary for any app anytime through Settings → Notifications → Summarize Notifications.
Easier Recognition of Notification Summaries

Notification summaries are now displayed in italics to show a more distinguished look. It’s important to note that Apple, following scattered reports of unfounded summaries regarding news headlines, temporarily disabled summaries for notifications in the news and entertainment category.
