5:00 a.m. EST on December 5 (Reuters)- OpenAI had a new announcement for its wildly popular chatbot, ChatGPT: it will provide a version that costs $200 a month. The same would be advanced for engineering and research purposes, as the AI maker is looking for wider applications of its technology within the industry.

The new subscription that is ChatGPT Pro would sit alongside OpenAI’s other product offerings, which now include ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise. The event pretty much intensifies the series of acts toward commercializing the driving force behind the AI boom.

OpenAI said that ChatGPT Pro would give access its best tool sets, including the new reasoning models o1, o1-mini, and GPT-4o, as well as unlimited access to enhanced voice capabilities. Included is also o1 Pro Mode, a version that makes use of more computing power to deal with more complex queries. According to OpenAI, the o1 Pro Mode scored better performance in machine learning benchmarks compared to the o1 and o1-preview on subjects such as mathematics, science, and coding.

A screenshot shared on X (formerly Twitter) by third-party AI engineer Tibor Blaho revealed the details of this new tier. The ChatGPT Pro plan costs $200 per month, which is 10 times the price of the individual ChatGPT Plus offering.

ChatGPT Pro; indeed, it has the highest fees and is exceptionally expensive. It “offers the highest level of access to OpenAI’s best,” including completely unlimited access to the latest o1 and o1-mini reasoning models and even more compute power, including GPU capacity, to improve model performance and responsiveness. Others offer limited access to these advanced reasoning models. OpenAI has yet to release additional information or give confirmation on any more information about ChatGPT Pro. VentureBeat has reached out with a request for clarity in detail but will update as soon as possible.
