One such tweet from Rockstar Games brings misery to fans eagerly anticipating the next installment of the video game franchise, Grand Theft Auto 6. With fever pitch surrounding the title right now, any headline news—or lack of it—will trigger most human emotions. Despite being one of the most talked-about games ever, GTA 6 has only had one trailer released so far, with official updates from Rockstar Games being few and far between.
With Rockstar’s near-silence on GTA 6, fans have started concocting conspiracy theories about when the long-awaited second trailer for the open-world crime game will finally drop. But up to now, all predictions have been made in vain, anticipating dates even to pass without their view of the game. Nonetheless, the most recent theory that focused on Trailer 2 seemed to hit closest to the mark, as many clues were pointing to December 27.
“Fans who had high hopes attached to this date are now dismayed because December 27 also came and went sans any sign of Trailer 2 (at least as far as things stand now).”Many took to social media to vent their frustration at Rockstar Games’ latest post. Instead of releasing the GTA 6 Trailer 2, Rockstar tweeted a reminder about their Rockstar Store Holiday Sale, offering discounts on titles like Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Grand Theft Auto 4.The sale also includes Rockstar merchandise and runs until January 7.
With such posts, disappointment, disbelief, and of course, anger, can immediately be witnessed by the thousands of comments streaming in after that tweet. Fans are really worried now that there’s a possibility that 2024 will pass without another GTA 6 trailer release. If that isn’t enough for fans, they’ve also pointed out that the numbers add up to 27 of the store link, adding steam in their reality frustration of hype on December 27.

As of this writing, it’s still the morning of December 27, so there’s a slim chance Trailer 2 might drop before the day ends. However, fans are cautioned against holding their breath. Just as it’s best to temper expectations around trailer release theories, it’s also wise to manage excitement about the game as a whole.
Still, the frustration among fans is understandable. The wait for GTA 6 updates has been excruciatingly long, breaking records for the longest gap between trailers for a Rockstar title. As of now, there’s no end in sight. If GTA 6 is still set to release in late 2025, one would expect that if a new trailer doesn’t arrive by the end of 2024, Rockstar’s marketing campaign will need to shift into high gear next year.
