Google Pixel Update

It’s that time of the month again – Google is rolling out the February 2025 Pixel update for devices ranging from the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 9 series, along with the Pixel Tablet. While this update doesn’t introduce any flashy new features, it does address some important bug fixes related to Bluetooth, Android Auto, and a crucial security patch.

What’s Included in the February 2025 Pixel Update?

For Pixel users, this update brings bug fixes and improvements—here are the details:

Audio:

• A fix for an issue with audio output in Android Auto under certain conditions.

Bluetooth:

• An issue has been resolved that sometimes prevented connection with some Bluetooth devices and accessories.

Device Compatibility:

These fixes exist for all supported Pixel devices except where mentioned below. Some fixes may be carrier or region-specific. The control being dealt with includes:

• Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro, 7a, 8 and 8 Pro, 8a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

These fixes, plus Android-level and Pixel-specific security fixes. In Android terms, Google patched some security vulnerabilities of high severity. A fix is provided for Pixel devices for CVE-2025-0085, which is in the battery management sub-component and was rated “high.” The type of this vulnerability can be understood as Information Disclosure (ID) in that it might permit attackers to access certain sensitive data without authorization-but fortunately, that has been fixed in this update.

According to Google, the rollout of the update began today, and you will receive a notification when it becomes available for your device. Alternatively, you can opt to manually check for the update by going to Settings → System → Software Update → Check for Updates.

Pixel’s Last Patch Before Android 15 QPR2

Notably, this is the last security update before the public growth of the following generation of management, Android 15 QPR2, next month. QPR2 may bring better features, among them changes to the clock and battery widgets, and guaranteed the rollout of Satellite SOS support in the U.K. It is quite possible that the Android 15 QPR2 is the last major update for Android 15, with Google fast-tracking the tests for Android 16, which is set to receive a stable release by mid-2025.
