Storage gradually becomes less valuable as apps and software are large on devices. To combat this, Google now needs to ship Android devices with high minimal flash storage to allow more space for Android 15.
At the top end of the Android market, the devices usually ship with 128GB or more flash storage. This allows some to leave a healthy amount for third -party apps and a healthy amount for download by the OS and other pregnant apps for some. Even when users have become more dependent on cloud-based storage, equipment needs to maintain a certain amount of storage for those apps that facilitate the stored items and so on.
According to an insight report from Android authorityAndroid 15 is required a new minimum storage on Android devices. This new requirement is set on 32GB, above 16GB minimum set in Android 13. The standard determines that 75% of that 32GB storage is divided to OS and pre-installed apps, which the user has planned for the device, only a thin part has been left for it.
It seems that this new requirement has been implemented by limiting the access of Google mobile services for shipping cheap equipment with less than 32GB. The nature of Google’s open-source AOSP does not allow the company to withdraw its OS from only 16GB storage phones, although it can obstruct support. The new requirement is wide in GMS requirements, which explains the newly supported minimum on 32 GB.
Only 32GB storage phones are rarely seen, but the count appears in the phone at ultra-lo and. Even Android Blu View 5 Pro is only around $ 50, and it is doubled with minimal storage, 64 GB. For low-range devices, 64GB has become a standard basic option.
It will also affect the “dumb” phone that wants to ship with Android 15. They ship with device stripped features and Google Play Store access, but 32 GB can be ideal for a simplified device. Nevertheless, some options, such as minimum phones, ship with 128GB at the lowest.
