If you’re curious about trying a Mac for the first time, or you need a compact but powerful computer for your home media server, we highly recommend the latest Mac Mini. The upgraded M4 model with 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM is now available at a mere $689 (a discount of $110) from Amazon and B&H Photo, marking the lowest price ever. Even the entry-level model with 256GB storage is going for just $469 (a $130 discount) at both retailers—again, the lowest price to date.

Former Verge staffer Chris Welch described the machine as “a little wonder” in his review last year, especially praising its smaller size and improved performance compared to earlier generations. Apple has managed to pack a lot of power into a computer that’s only five inches wide and two inches tall. We reviewed the upgraded 512GB model currently on sale, and it performed excellently in synthetic benchmarking tools like Geekbench 6 and Cinebench, as well as during 4K exports using Adobe Premiere Pro.

If you work with high-resolution audio, video, or images, Apple’s latest Mini should easily handle your projects. One of the Mini’s standout features is its wide range of ports. On the back, you’ll find three Thunderbolt 3 ports, an HDMI port, and an Ethernet jack. On the front, there are two USB-C (USB 3) ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. These ports let you connect up to three monitors at once, plug directly into a TV or projector without an adapter, switch from Wi-Fi to wired internet, or connect various accessories.

Unfortunately, the long-standing USB-A ports that were present on the Mini for over a decade are now gone. Our only real complaint with the M4 Mini is how expensive it is to upgrade its RAM or storage—but this current deal helps ease that concern. Just keep in mind that the Mac Mini is a dedicated desktop computer, so you’ll need to buy your own monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
