Apple’s notes app is rumored to support Markdown in iOS 26 and Macos 26, according to this 9to5macThis feature will allow users to format the text using simple syntax instead of relying on the current rich text controls of the app.

Markdown support will be a major upgrade for power users who prefer keyboard-operated formatting. Instead of tapping the button to make bold text or header, users can directly type ** bold ** or # header in their notes.

In addition, apple notes will equalize with popular notes such as obesidian, perception and bear, which have long supported the mild markup language. For developers and writers already familiar with platforms such as github or reddit, it will also eliminate the need to switch between apps.

If the rumor increases, the next week’s Worldwide Developers Conference is expected to unveil with other iOS 26 reforms, including the messages to be automated translations and choices, not to mention a major view reading.
