'Find my device' decided its name, now Android needs better Airtag

The “Find My device” network has been suffering from poor branding for a long time. So I was happy to see the infection for the “Find Hub” this week, but I think Google still has another column to take care, and it is offering better airtag contestants for Android users.

The “Find My device” app was not always the same that has been over the years. As the trackers came to the fray, however, the branding was immediately carried forward, and even more when Google added the ability to share user locations.

This is why the new “Find Hub” of this week has been introduced. It is clean and easy to understand, a better sign that it is actually capable of pre -branding. Although this may look modest, it contributes to creating a better understanding of what Google’s network can do.

But there is still a big problem.

Trackers.

Simply put, trackers like Airtag for Android are still a mess. The network is improving. I really want to see new products. Pabbal and Chipolo have addressed a pain point in developing both new hardware that works with both Google and Apple’s network (not at the same time), and Motorola took the first step with the UWB (which is finally going to live soon). But I would like to see some trackers who may leave a little part of battery life for more reliable ping and connection. Finally, however, the only way we are going to get the “shiny example” of find hub trackers, if Google creates a first-sided option, which he should do at all.
