With iOS 26, Apple added a group of new options for the background sounds feature. If you are unfamiliar with this, it is an accessibility option that allows your iPhone to play a soothing background noise like white noise or rain.
Prior to IOS 26, there were options for eight background sounds, but now there are sixteen. What’s new here:
- Illumination
- Steam
- airplane
- boat
- Bus
- train
- Rain on the roof
- Cool night
These are included in the original eight, including balanced noise, bright noise, dark noise, ocean, rain, stream, night and fire.
Accessibility> Audio and Visual> Background Sounds can be toes in the setting app under background sounds. Once you choose a sound option and select, you can togle background sounds through a hearing accessibility shortcut in the control center.
IOS 26 is still available to developers, but Apple plans to release a public beta in July. The software will be launched with new iPhones in September.
