The iOS 26 message app is set to get support for adapted backgrounds for conversations, and it appears that AI will be an option to generate different looks.
As Nicholas alveragThis feature appears to use the image playground, and there will be ofimage playground style options including animation, illustration and sketch.
Message backgrounds will be optimized on the basis of currency, so iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will be able to set a separate background for each of their messages threads. BloombergMark Gurman had earlier said that the background would have a message between all participants in a message conversation. So if you set a specific background for an IMESSAGE chat with a friend, the friend will see the same background.
Other messaging apps like WhatsApp support custom background options, so Apple is playing catch-up with new message app background feature.
The message app is also set to get support for elections, automatic translation for messages coming in other languages, and the option to make genmosie by combining two existing standard emoji. Apple plans to call Oramegenmojiy Mixing feature “Mixmji”. With this feature, you will be able to add two emoji -like cakes and balloons to a new emoji, with a cake and a balloon for a celebration.
Apple has other AI characteristics in tasks, such as the Apple Intelligence-Intelligent version of the shortcut app. Apple may call the new shortcut option “generative shortcuts”, and it appears that it will use the natural language to help users to create powerful multi-step shortcut actions.
IOS 26 and new messages will be shown in WWDC 2025, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 9 at 10:00 am with a Keenot event.
