WWDC is just a few weeks away, and Apple is gearing up for several big announcements. Following make the expected features to be introduced in October to iPadOs 1.9:
#1: Menu Bar

For a long time, many iPad users have desired productivity tools that were identical to those available to the Mac, and finally, iPadOS in 2019 is going to be Apple’s indirect response. According to Majin Bu, this year’s update will bring a Mac-style menu bar to the iPad.
Likely, the iPadOS 19 menu bar would look and behave much similarly to the macOS menu bar. However, like many features Apple has borrowed from the Mac, some twist will probably have to be added for the iPad.
Bu mentions that the menu bar will automatically appear when a Magic Keyboard is connected, though it’s likely that a touch-only version will also be available for non-keyboard users.
#2: Stage Manager 2.0

Multitasking is said to be another major focus for iPadOS 19.
Apple’s last big leap in iPad multitasking was the introduction of Stage Manager. While some users praised its power, others (myself included) found it less than ideal.
iPadOS 19 is expected to usher in a new and improved version of the multitasking interface, called “Stage Manager 2.0.”
Details are scarce, but hopefully this time Apple has finally cracked the code for truly seamless multitasking on iPad.
#3: AI Upgrades for Siri

With iOS 19, Siri is also expected to receive long-overdue upgrades on iPadOS 19.
Some of the new Siri features include:
• Hundreds of new in-app and system-wide actions
• On-screen awareness
• Intelligence that adapts to your personal context
These enhancements were originally planned for iPadOS 18 but were reportedly delayed because they didn’t meet Apple’s internal reliability standards at the time.
#4: New Design

A major theme across almost all of Apple’s software platforms this year is redesign — both big and small.
iPadOS 19 is expected to benefit from design changes focused on stability, usability, and visual elements inspired by visionOS — including a “glass effect” for system components.
If it follows the early leaks of iOS 19’s redesign, iPadOS 19 might finally feel fresh yet familiar for longtime iPad users.
iPadOS 19 Features: Final Thoughts
Some of the enhancements killed off by Apple and scrapped included the ability to add Quick Actions to the context menu and integration into the Reminders app.
There are currently no genuinely interesting or valuable additions specifically for the iPad targeted at iPadOS 18 from a developer’s perspective. The year before that was also a bit underwhelming. It’s been three years since Apple delivered truly meaningful productivity updates for the iPad.
I’ve experimented with many operating systems till now, and it was only then that I quit iOS. If not, we might hear renewed calls for Apple to bring macOS to the iPad.
