The new look of the iPhone 17 Pro Max has been unveiled in several renders, showcasing a horizontal rear camera bar that might remind you of recent Pixel lineups. This video was posted on the Russian YouTube channel, Wylsacom, where these renders came from. This redesign signals the major most recent change to the rear camera setup since the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max launched in 2019, which had a square camera module positioned in the top left corner of the rear panel.Before that, the iPhone XS series had a slimmer camera island with vertically aligned lenses in the top-left corner.
The current design of the cameras on the Iphone Pro and Pro Max has remained largely unchanged from the iPhone 11 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. But all indications suggest that significant changes are coming next year.
The renders are based on publicly available rumors and leaks. Among other potential changes, the titanium edges of the iPhone Pro models might be replaced with aluminum. This new material could also replace some parts of the glass rear panel.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.9-inch OLED display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate. Earlier this year, a leak revealing the specs of the iPhone 17 series indicated that both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max would be equipped with 12GB of RAM. The rest of the lineup will reportedly come with 8GB of RAM to support Apple’s advanced AI capabilities. The same leak also showed that the 2025 iPhone Pro models might feature three 48MP cameras on the back.
It’s looking like the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be powered by Apple’s new 3nm A18 Pro chip. Originally, there were plans to produce the A18 and A18 Pro using TSMC’s first-gen 2nm process, but Apple decided to go with TSMC’s third-gen 3nm node (N3P) instead—likely as a cost-saving move.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to be officially unveiled and launched in September 2025, alongside the rest of the lineup: the iPhone 17, the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro. With around nine months to go before the big reveal, you can expect to see plenty more leaks and renders popping up as the excitement builds.
