According to Jeff Pu, an Apple analyst of Equity Research firm GF Securities, all four iPhone 17 models will adopt metalance technology for face ID. He revealed this information in an investor research note earlier this month.

Earlier this year, a leaker, known as a digital chat station, also claimed that the iPhone 17 Pro would adopt a metalance for Max Face ID that integrates the transmitter and receiver components. He said that this change would reduce the size of some of the face ID components, resulting in a small dynamic island on the device.

Last year, Pu also stated that the iPhone 17 Pro Max would result in a very narrow dynamic island as a result of metalance. However, now they believe that all iPhone 17 models will adopt a metalance, which means the change base model will expand to the iPhone 17, Ultra-Patli iPhone 17 Air, and small iPhone 17 Pro.

In January, however, Apple’s analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he hoped that the size of the dynamic island will remain “largely unchanged” in the ‌iphone 17 श्रृ series.

All three sources have proved the track record of sharing details about future Apple products, so it remains to be seen whether the dynamic island will turn into size.

In any case, next year’s iPhone18 Pro model is rumored for the facility of under-screen face ID with only a small front camera hole.
