IPhone shipment 9% below China’s Q1 smartphone boom

Apple’s iPhone shipment in China declined by 9 percent in the first quarter in the first quarter, and was a major smartphone seller to see the fall. Research firm IDC,

The iPhone shipments fell to 9.8 million units, leading to a market share of 13.7 percent below 17.4 percent in the last quarter. Apple has now declined to seven straight quarters.

For local vendors, this was another story. Market leader Xiaomi noticed that the shipment increased by 40 percent to 13.3 million units. Meanwhile, industry-wide shipment increased by 3.3 percent.

According to the IDC, Apple’s premium pricing structure stopped the company from capitalizing on the new government subsidy launched early in the first quarter.

Under subsidy, consumers of electronics receive 15 percent of the products that are priced under 6,000 yuan ($ 820). Apple’s standard iPhone 16 starts from 5,999 yuan.
