Apple has already begun preparing its marketing, sales, and retail staff, as the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M4 chip are set to debut in March, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.
Gurman added that current-gen models are running low in inventory in stores, another sign that the launch is just around the corner. Rumors about the launch have been going on for quite some time. Earlier, it was said to be one of the very first hardware-launches from Apple this year, but the launch turned out to be of the iPhone 16e, last week.
Gurman stated last week that Apple would start selling the new M4 MacBook Air models by “early March,” implying that he’s confident the machines will be available next month. It’s still unclear whether this will happen in the first part of March or toward the end of the month.
Twelve days ago, Gurman mentioned that the machines would be released “within a few weeks.” While he’s betting on a March release, Gurman hasn’t gone into details about the exact timing of the launch for the updated versions of Apple’s most popular laptop.

Accidentally, Apple confirmed the M4 MacBook Air models in December with some files embedded in the macOS Sequoia 15.2 software update for two unreleased machines, “Mac16,12” and “Mac16,13”. The files may refer to the “MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)” and the “MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)”.
