A new listing suggests that Samsung’s new Galaxy Foldables – Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 – Apparently Q2 will be supported, but it is unlikely that the version you want.
Wireless Power Consortium published only one Entry For a new Samsung device that supports the Qi 2.1.0 version.
The listing does not tell us much beyond saying that it is a mobile phone and it is “coming soon.” The device model number bears the SM-D637U, which is strange, at first glance. Samsung’s model numbers usually follow a predicted pattern, but it does not fit in any other line-up.
However, it seems that this new device is actually one of Samsung’s upcoming foldables.
SM-D637U does not understand automatically, but neither SM-D617D. This was the second number, however, was also used by WPC in context Galaxy z fold to 5Similarly, SM-D269n used for WPC From Galaxy Z Fold Last year. It is not clear why these model numbers are different, but it can be as simple as Samsung is trying to cover its new devices before launch.
Regardless, this previous listing very clearly tells us that this new device is the Galaxy Z fold 7, with Samsung’s first device with Q2 support. However, this is Excessive The “appropriate” QI2 is unlikely to be supported. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series and fold 7 rumors watching the thin profile, it is more likely that the device will be “QI2 ready”, which means that it is certified to work with cases that add a magnetic ring for charger alignment and accessories rather than placing magnets within the actual frame. “Q2 Ready” was introduced as a part of the Qi 2.1.0 update earlier this year, which Samsung has registered with this device.
It does not really come as a surprise that the Galaxy Z fold 7 will have some form of Q2 support, but it is one of the first foldables to get that support, a welcome option between a sea of foldables that often occurs, let’s call it a “bizarre” wireless charging support.
Samsung will announce the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July.
