Samsung has paused the worldwide rollout of its much-anticipated One UI 7 update after some users in South Korea encountered a serious bug. The problem is said to have stopped some Galaxy S24 users from unlocking their phones prompting the firm to halt on the update.

This news was first shared by popular leaker and tipster Ice Universe, who mentioned that a “critical bug” had been discovered. Samsung, however, has taken a rather conservative route by halting the global rollout for all models of the update temporarily. The complaints are mainly from Galaxy S24 users in South Korea.

While some users may have already downloaded the One UI 7 update, checks using the app CheckFirm confirm that the update is no longer listed on Samsung’s servers as the latest firmware for many Galaxy devices. Instead, older patches are now being shown.

Till now, there is no official announcement from Samsung regarding the pause, nor is there any information about any workaround for users who have already installed the One UI 7 update. We have contacted the company regarding this matter.

The One UI 7 update, based on Android 15 and loaded with several AI enhancements, initially began rolling out to the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 devices on April 7, with U.S. users receiving the patch on April 10. It was already available on the Galaxy S25 series and also came preloaded on some of the newer and more budget-friendly Galaxy A series phones, which launched back in February.

The stoppage follows the long wait for the update for older phones, which came after seven months of the time Android 15 had become available for developers, and two months after the Galaxy S25 series went live with the software update.
