The largest negative part of the Galaxy S25 Edge is its small battery, but Samsung still thinks that it was a “right step”.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is a device designed around being very thinner than average. At 5.8 mm, it is definitely the most thinner, although it is also not breaking any records. This thin profile came with some sacrifices, and they were a warm subject in an interview Tom guide,

Samsung Electronics Sitting with Black Gaiser, director of smartphone product management in America, Tom guide To discuss the Galaxy S25 Edge. Gesar called Edge a “Goldelaox” device, in which it provides a flagship experience, but is very thin and lighter. He also states that, in relation to removing a dedicated telephoto lens, it was essentially sacrificed because people do not use it often.

… When we are looking at the use of our cameras with our customers, we know some things. We know that our customers who use the most popular zoom are actually 0.6x to get broad macro views, 1x, 2x and 3x. Is it good to zoom 100x space many times? Absolutely. Sure. But is it something that you are going to use every day or every month?

The next question was around the biggest controversy in this device, battery. The Galaxy S25 edge has only 3,900 mAh battery, which is basically small by any standard. Comparatively, standard Galaxy S25 which has a very small screen has a 4,000 mAh battery. Tom guide Asked about the battery, citing its own tests, which showed a minimum difference from the base S25, as well as asked why Samsung did not use silicon-carbide batteries for additional capacity.

Gesar says that customers just want to use “All-Day”, and that was the right step for this device to use lithium-ion.

I think sufficient battery life for most customers is just a full day’s use. You do not want to find yourself in lunch with an empty battery. And what we have seen with this device is that it has done better or better work than the S24 base model and is very close to the S25 base model.

And so as long as you can live with the sun to the sun without any problem, we think it is a great experience. And personally, I did not have an issue with battery life.

Samsung always looks at every new emerging technology that is out of there. So this is something that we are definitely not closing our eyes. But with that new chipset, with the agent AI helping with the performance and capacity of these batteries, we really felt that going with our traditional lithium-ion battery was the right step for this device.

The interpretation of Gesar is a little shortage of “why,”, but this marketing is speaking to you. Anyone can easily argue that a silicon-carbide battery-or literally any type of battery upgraded-Galaxy will serve the “new chipset” and “agent AI” of the S25 age, as well, if not better, but it does not change that anything is too late to swap anything at this point. The 3,900 mAh battery is what it is.
