Overview
Spotify has teased the coming release of its 2024 Spotify Wrapped that users must update on their app to access playlists and these features when they become available. While no official release date has been announced yet, here’s everything we know so far.
Key Highlights
- Spotify gave a sneak peek on Wednesday, showing reminders in the app about previous years’ Wrapped and stating, “The best time of the year is almost here.”
- They encouraged users via a press release to keep their apps updated to avoid missing out on new Wrapped features. Earlier this year, Spotify shared a Halloween-themed teaser on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that data collection for Wrapped would conclude after October 31.
- Wrapped packages feature personalized graphics showing users’ top five streamed songs, artists, and their top 100 tracks for the year, with data collection ending on October 31 each year, as reported by USA Today in 2022. Last week, pop-up reminders in the app told users, saying that “2024 almost over” and then urging them to update their app to avail of Wrapped as soon as it is released.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. When Spotify Wrapped 2024 Will Be Released?
Nevertheless, there is yet an official announcement regarding the said release date. However, traditionally, Spotify has been known to do their Wrapped at the end of November or early December. Last year, Wrapped was released on November 29, a day earlier than in 2021, when it went live on November 30. Users can access Wrapped directly through in-app pop-ups, which are formatted as slideshow graphics optimized for Instagram Stories.
Will There Be New Features This Year?
This hasn’t been clearly stated yet, not what new things Spotify may bring this time. They always add something fresh to Wrapped over these years. Last year, one such feature was Sound Town, which connected users to cities based on the top-streaming artists. 2019 was when they brought the decade-in-review feature, where users could discover what was trending during the last decade.
Spotify has now gone on Instagram to show a video of the logo changing into popular designs of the album of the year, saying: ‘So many albums fell this year. And they’ll be in your Wrapped. Coming soon.

Fun Tangent
Social media often jokes about the lengths people go to avoid “embarrassing” tracks appearing in their Wrapped.A recent post on X, liked by over 200,000 users, joked, “My Spotify Wrapped is going to be so embarrassing this year.” Last year, The Washington Post humorously dubbed November and December as “fraud season,” when users safely binge holiday music or guilty pleasures without fear of them popping up in their Wrapped.
Background
Spotify launched its Wrapped marketing campaign in 2016, introducing Instagram story-ready graphics in 2019 as part of the experience. The campaign has been a major marketing success for Spotify. In 2022, more than 156 million users accessed their Wrapped packages, a sharp rise from 120 million in 2021. Social media analytics firm SproutSocial found that Wrapped was mentioned in over 400 million posts on X within three days of its release in 2022, a 15% increase from the previous year. Wrapped often includes new features. Last year’s edition included “Sound Town” and a Myers-Briggs-style “listening personality” feature, sparking viral conversations on social media.
