Talos theory is one of the most famous happy accidents of video games. Prior to its release, the players knew developer Kotem for their serious SAM Games. Each serious Sam game may not be ahead of the kind of game that is the Talos’ principle.
So there was no surprise for me when I learned that development for Talos’ theory began as development for a new serious Sam game. The basic puzzle elements shown in Talos theory were conceived as a way of navigating the war -torn world of the serious Sam and eventually became the 2014 puzzle game.
More than a decade after a decade and a year after a fully developed sequel, we have the Talos theory: Rewenting, a remaster of the original game and its road to the Gehna expansion, as well as a new expansion in the beginning. This is more than a new set of remaster levels. Everything has been given an unrealistic engine 5-style facelift, with better lighting and texture to provide you with even better looking scenes when you are staring at a puzzle on which you are trapped.
There is also a new puzzle editor that allows you to create your own puzzles, although it is believed that I did not find it to try while reviewing the game on PS5. The puzzle editor is available only on the PC version of the game, although Crotem has already stated on the steam page of the game that this game will try to work the puzzle editor in the post-launch versions.
I enjoyed the developer commentary with all the new additions in this remaster. For reference, as the Talos theory was born from a happy accident, I was playing. As a fan of puzzle games, it remained one of my blind spots in style. I have heard a lot about it in the last few years and some friends have been asked to play it, but I have never found around it.
That is why when I came to the opportunity, I was motivated to review it, because much more than the accident, I got my first experience with the Talos’ principle, the best version of the game so far, the kind of developer I love to listen to some cool and meditation with insight. In more ways than as I could expect, the Talos Siddhanta is right my kind of game, and I should have heard my friends soon.
I experienced many similar feelings of players 11 years ago, playing for the first time for the Talos theory and the Gahna expansion. Some riddles made me feel like a complete talent when I solved them, while others were so easy to resolve that I could run through them, whatever came to my head first, took my finger from the sprint button. A reflective moment was not in many puzzles, and that kind of power fantasy only finds you in puzzle games before bored.
Then, at one time, towards the end, a lot of puzzles were long in that empty gaze, as much as I cared for accepting. I had already done the restrictions that did not work for the first time, to see if it would click some places. And when it did it at the end, I was relieved, instead of thrilling, to go to the next puzzle, which when playing a puzzle you want you don’t want to feel.
It also comes down to the lack of new mechanics in Talos theory. I am tired of connecting the lasers very fast, saying, opening the portal. But as long as I was deciding that I had to climb the tower, my inspiration rests more on exposing the story, as if another laser puzzle is resolved.
Playing through the original game and its expansion also meant that I was experienced the story of Talos theory for the first time, which also felt like my puzzle. Discussing the meaning of life or trying to define personality and consciousness seems like a conversation that I can have with a friend on coffee. This is another reason that Talos theory is my kind game.
I loved writing, and can be tired as a trop, it is probably not a shock for you at the point that I love to add a game story together through cryptic notes and audio logs. It makes my experience feel more unique with a game. Even if I am receiving every piece of story in the same sequence, then there is no way to know this by another player. On that note, I was disappointed that the story and puzzles never woven in each other in interesting ways.
The QR code notes many times helped create some comic connections, but otherwise, my conversation with Milton felt different from the rest of the game, which separated from the experience. The road changes to Gehenna, with the object of the puzzle to free the other robot from their prison. The expansion of the beginnings includes more in the story than the newly added Alexandra Drainon, which again helps the story to weave a little more in the riddles.
Talking about the new in the expansion of the beginning, for my money, these are the most difficult puzzles in the entirety of the Talos theory: again. the fact that 16 of 18 puzzles In this new expansion, I was not surprised again with the cooperation of some of the biggest fans of Talos principles. Getting through these riddles felt as if Nintendo had brought popular Caizo designers for the next 2D super Mario game.
Unfortunately, the difficulty of these riddles stated what the Talos’ principle should be: Rewkends Shining Star its biggest frustration. The story you get in the beginning was not just as interesting as you can find on the street for the base game and Gehna DLC, but it was a struggle to get them that I had a better time to play everything except for the expansion of the beginning.
This may be because my freshness for Talos theory and its internal puzzle functioning is not at the same level that has been with this game for a decade. Nevertheless, the challenge of offering these levels should not stop anyone else like me, who enjoys a good puzzle game and has not played the Talos theory since the Talos theory in any way, from taking the Talos theory: from: Reveck.

The Talos Principle: Again
Its expansion for Talos theory and Gehenna is two of the best puzzle game experiences available in road video games. This unfortunately only makes the difficulty in the new expansion in the beginning of the beginning, but it is perfect for the base game, and both expansion that struggle writing and storytelling is worth it. Especially if you are the dihard talos theory fan that cannot wait to return to this fake puzzle-garden heaven. Additional developer commentary and amazing views from Unreal Engant 5 upgrade wrap the entire collection in a good bow that makes the Talos theory: a strong remaster resumed, and even more if you are playing on PC in launch and get a puzzle editor’s bonus.
- Unrealistic Engine 5 upgrade looks great
- The same excellent writing and story that made the original game a gem
- A wife of puzzles who is fun to solve that will make you feel like a talent once once
Professionals
- Initial expansion is difficult beyond the point of new disappointment
- Puzzle Editor Launch is not available to console the players at the launch
- Storytelling and puzzle gameplay as they do not feel connected because they can be
