Apple will not be exempted from tariffs after all, US President Donald Trump is working on the new semiconductor levy which will probably affect chips and other electronics from companies such as Apple devices, Nvidia.
Over the weekends, American customers and the Border Protection Agency shared a long list of electronic devices out of the current tariff, including iPhones, iPads, MACS, Apple Watch, and more. Apple scored 10 percent tariffs on a rapriv from 145 percent tariff affecting 145 percent tariffs imported from China and 10 percent tariffs on goods imported from other countries, but it does not seem that it is going to be final.
On True social Network, Trump, said that no “hook is closing” and there “no tariff exception.” Apple and other technical companies are going into a separate tariff bucket, “20 percent” are still in place with “fantanel tariff”, and additional tariffs are coming.
Trump said that his administration would take “a look” in the semi -operators and the electronics supply chain in the national security tariff investigation. He also reiterated that “we need to make products in the United States.” Trump is expected to announce some kind of semiconductor tariff in the coming days.
Trump has suggested that Apple may manufacture iPhone and other products in the United States, but even though no such move was wildly expensive, Apple will not be able to find enough people with the skills required to collect the required amounts of equipment. American manufacturing will also significantly increase the cost of iphone.
