Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1381 Clue, Hints, and Answer for Monday, March 31
Today is the last day of March. As usual, the passage of time feels both inevitable and surprising. We’re a quarter of the way through 2025. Taxes are due soon, and in a few months, I’ll be turning 44. Let’s get going.
Let’s solve today’s Wordle.
How to Solve Today’s Wordle
Hint: Both pirates and twerkers need this.
Clue: There’s a double letter in today’s Wordle.

Wordle Analysis
Every day, I check the Wordle Bot to help me analyze my guesses.
The word “WHITE” came to my mind because I was writing about White Lotus. Maybe tomorrow I’ll guess “LOTUS”! It turned out to be a good guess, leaving me with just 45 solutions left—although at that time, I had no idea. I then tried all new letters with “PALSY,” but that only left me with 6 solutions. I tried “FORTY” since I was already thinking about age, and that left me with only two possibilities, though I could only think of one: BOOTY. That’s where my mind went—BOOTY or something else. The other option was DOTTY, but I guessed right. Huzzah!
Competitive Wordle Scores

I get 0 points for guessing in 4, and -1 point for losing to the bot. The bot gets 1 point for guessing in 3, and another point for beating me. This brings us to the final monthly tally…
Final March Tally
Eric: 21 points.
Wordle Bot: 15 points.
I won! Hahaha! I beat the evil Wordle bot, though you’ll see that our scores have dropped quite a bit over the past week or so, ending just 6 points apart. Let’s see how April goes starting tomorrow.

Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “booty” (meaning loot or treasure) comes from the Middle Low German word “büte,” meaning “exchange” or “distribution,” especially of plundered goods. It entered English in the 15th century to refer to war spoils or loot.
The buttocks slang interpretation of “booty” came much later during the 20th century in American English, probably under the influence of the African American Vernacular English (AAVE) from “booty” as “treasure” or “prize.”
