WWDC is less than a week, and as we ramps for a big announcement, we are going to share details about what we know about each operating system. We are starting with the next generation version of Macos, which Apple is clearly going to call Macos Tahoe.
Name
Since the current version of Macos is MACOS 15, it will usually be followed by Macos 16, but Apple is changing its naming plan for the operating system update starting this year.
Everything that comes in 2025 will be counted with “26” to reflect its release season, covering the period between September 2025 and September 2026. We are receiving Macos 26, iOS 26, iPados 26, TVOS 26, Watches 26, and Visionos 26. Apple can go with 25.
With a streamlined naming that applies Apple, separate, confused numbers will not be required to be remembered for each operating system. This may be confused for the first time to move from Macos 15 to Macos 26, but it should be more understandable on a long race.
Macos is special because it always receives a California landmark name with its number, unlike other operating systems. This year, it seems that Apple is going to go with a popular lake “Taho” between California and Nevada. Lake Taho is a popular holiday destination throughout the year, but especially in winter where it is known for its ski slopes.
Taho will be included in the landmark names of other California, which is used by Apple, which includes Maveryicks, Yosemite, El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, Katalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma and Sequoia.
Design overhaul
Most of the rumors we have heard of Apple’s upcoming software have focused on Andos 26 and the design that Apple has planned, but MACOS 26 is going to get some of those same design updates.
Rivamp may not be quite dramatic, but Apple wants to have a more harmonious form and feel in your operating system, so design overhall and “26” name change.
Visionos interface
Originally, Apple is expanding some visionos design elements for all its software, focusing on transportation, round menu and buttons, and a frosty -like glass -like form for the interface. On Mac, Apple already uses translucent for some things like menu bar and dock, but we can probably see more transport in Windows and menu elements.
App icons that may have a more rounded look, and we can see the rounder corner for Windows and other interface elements. Apple can also adopt some floating menu bar, and add more depth to everything for a glossier look and feel.
Visionos interface
Better design can bring better design stability to streamlined navigation, menu and layout iOS and Macos. Expect to see design changes at the operating system level and apple’s apps, also provide new guidelines and property for developers with Apple to tailor your apps to match the updated aesthetics.
Apple wise
MACOS 26 is having new Apple Intelligence features, but Apple is undoubtedly going to be more reserved to declare anything that is not ready to go.
Apple has planned to update the shortcut app to integrate AAPPLE Intelligence. Users will be able to create actions that use the model intelligence, models, making it easier for casual users to make useful shortcuts.
Apple will give us some insight when Siri will be able to integrate with Gemini in addition to chat, as it is a feature soon.
All individuals announced in WWDC 2024, all individuals announced at some points and MACOS 26 are coming in, but it is not clear that they will be prepared by WWDC. If they are not ready to leave, Apple probably will not mention them, and we will receive them later in the year.
As a reminder, we are waiting on individual references that allow Siri to do anything, messages, files, photos, and more, or originally on your device. Apple is also adding onscreen awareness, so what is siri on your screen, it can help you with it, and siri will also get deep app integration so that it can do more in the apps.
Gaming app
There is a new game app in work that will be available for Macos, iOS, iPados and TVOS. It will have the games that you will usually find in the app store and Apple Arcade Title, as well as in-game achievements, leadersboards and sections for editorial materials.
You will be able to use the app to communicate with other people, and on Mac, it will be able to tap in the game downloaded outside the Mac App Store. This will replace the game center, and a more feature will be rich app.
Other rumors characteristics
Apple previewed several accessibility features, which are coming in Macos 26 and IS 26 , as well as rumors of new Wi-Fi features.
- Captured Wi-Fi Portal Sinking – When you log in to a prisoner Wi-Fi network like a hotel or airport, you will only need to do once and the information will be sinking in all your equipment.
- rythm – Apple will allow you to connect an iPhone to your Mac to use the camera of iphoneion to zoom on lessons and other things, which you may need to help watch.
- Vehicle speed signal – Small dots that are to help you from getting carci or aeric, are also coming to Mac. Vehicle motion signals mean what eyes are looking to match the feeling of movement.
Adaptability
Macos Tahoe may leave support for some old Macs, including 2018 Macbook Pro, 2019 IMAC, 2017 IMIMACO Pro, 2018 Mac MINI, and 2020 Intel-based MacBook Air. Update is expected to be compatible with the following Macs:
- AMACBook Pro (2019 and later)
- IMAC) (2020 and later)
- Mac Pro (2019 and later)
- AMAC mini (M1 and later)
- Mac Studio (All Models)
- Macbook air (m1 and later)
