IOS 26 and Macos 26 updated can bring many new features to Airpods, including sleep detection features and camera control options, reports 9to5macAirpods features will be introduced through firmware updates with new software of Apple.
What is the rumor here:
- New head gestures – Apple can add new head gestures, such as a gesture to adjust the amount of conversation awareness. Last year, Apple added a node and a head shake to respond or drop the call.
- Auto-poses for sleep – Airpods can prevent audio when the wearer falls asleep, possibly using sleeping sleep data from Apple Watch, because airpods do not have sleep detection.
- Camera trigger – Apple is planning to add trigger functionality to Airpods, capturing an image on a linked iPhone with a press on the airpods stem. It is possible that it can work with a timer, so the user is not touching an ear when the user user photo.
- Microphone growth – Airpods can get a “studio quality” microphone mode that is similar to audio mix features on Phoneion that allows users to choose from sound recording options such as studios and cinematic.
- Better coupling – Apple is clearly working on a feature that will improve how airpods pair with shared ipads for use in the classroom.
It is not clear whether these rumored characteristics will work in all airpods models or if some features can be limited to AirPods Pro. 9to5mac Warns that the airpods may choose “delay or twitches” before the apple is declared.
Apple is also expected to introduce a live translate feature for airpods, which will translate in-commercial conversations from one language to another.
Apple’s WWDC 2025 Keenote closes on Monday, June 9, and Apple plans to unveil Odios 26 and Macos 26. This is where we are likely to hear additional details about any new airpods functionality that comes with software updates.
