According to a new report, Samsung plans to implement new battery technology in upcoming equipment, but it is not enough that many people are expecting to see.
Over the years, silicon-carbon battery technology has been used in more and more devices. This allows for more dense energy storage, making devices such as OnePlus 13T packed as Google Pixel 9 in the same footprint to pack 6,200+ mAh battery, and find foldables N5 like Oppo, despite incredibly thin profiles.
However, Samsung has not yet adopted this technique, leaving devices such as just-launched Galaxy S25 Edge with a very small battery, and the company’s foldables are stable compared to their competition.
According to a new report from Alec (Through @Jukanlosreve), Samsung plans to adopt new battery technology, just not silicon-carbons-for now. The report claimed that Samsung is preparing to start using “SUS Can”, a battery technique that takes advantage of stainless steel. This energy improves density and charging speed, both things that many Samsung want to see. It also enhances the battery trend over time, something that has been an issue with many Samsung devices in the past. Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max also uses this technique, but Samsung has so far applied it to Galaxy smartphone.
When it can be used, it is not clear, but we are definitely expecting that it will happen sooner than the latter.
