Samsung is gearing up to expand its foldable lineup with two new additions—a unique “tri-fold” device and a more budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip FE. According to a recent report, both devices are expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, which is a bit later than what some had anticipated.
This week, The Elec reported that Samsung has already started producing displays for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models, both of which are expected to be released around July or August 2025. However, the other two foldables—the Galaxy Z Flip FE and the tri-fold device—are reportedly set to arrive a little after that.
Based on the report, the Galaxy Z Flip FE and what’s possibly going to be called the “Galaxy G Fold” (Samsung’s tri-fold device) are expected to launch sometime in Q4 2025. It was previously mentioned that the Flip FE would be released a few “months” after the Flip 7, but this is the first relatively firm timeline we’ve heard.
Meanwhile, the timeline for the tri-fold device has been evolving. A report from January 2025 suggested a Q3 launch, but according to Android Police, recent developments hint at delays. There were even reports that Samsung might only showcase the device in Q3 and delay the actual release to early 2026. With the latest update, it seems Samsung is still aiming for something close to its original schedule, though there’s still a lot of uncertainty.
Given all the changing details, it’s hard to call this a “delay” outright—but it’s definitely taking longer than many expected.
Regardless of the exact timeline, it looks like Samsung is staying on track to release both these foldable devices later this year, despite ongoing tariff concerns and the looming launch of Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
