Apple is rumored to work on a smart home hub which has been named “Homepad”. The device is expected to have a square iPad -like screen that can be connected to a speaker base like homepod, or it can be applied on a wall.
A question on the brain of Apple fans: Will the homepad preview in WWDC next week?
In power on Newspaper last weekend, BloombergMark Gurman said that Apple does not have a big new tool for the ship, so it seems that the homepad will not be launched soon. However, Apple can still provide an initial preview of the device in WWDC 2025, giving the developers enough time to prepare for its release.
To be clear, there are no rumors that it shows that Apple plans to preview the homepad next week, but is sometimes surprised.
Keep in mind that in November 2024, Gurman reported that the first generation homepad will not have an app store, but Apple may still release a set of developer API for the device. WWDC 2025 will be a suitable moment to do so.
Apple has a long history of announcing all new product categories from those products launching those products. The original iPhone was announced in January 2007 before the release of June 2007. The original Apple Watch was unveiled in September 2014, and it was launched in April 2015. The original homepod was launched in February 2018, which was introduced eight months after being introduced at WWDC 2017. There are many other examples.
In March, Apple Supply Chain Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the homepod with a screen would enter mass production in the third quarter of 2025. If that deadline remains accurate, wwdc 2025 preview may really understand.
In addition, the upcoming iOS 26, iPados 26, Macos 26, TVOS 26, and Watchos 26 updates are rumored to design all new glasses, and this look will extend to the software of the homepad. Apple can show all this closed at once.
Apple’s smart home hub has a 6-inch or 7-inch display and A18 chip. This will allow users to control smart home accessories, make facetime video calls, use the intercom feature of Apple among rooms in a house, and much more. It can also double as a home security system with Apple-designed camera.
All these are speculation, of course, and we do not want to get anyone’s hopes. WWDC 2025 usually does not expect any hardware announcements, but perhaps the time may be right for “smooth glimpses” in the homepad.
Even if the homepad is shown in WWDC, it may not be a ship for several months, as Apple delays individual SIRI features that are expected to be the core for the device. We may have to wait for those facilities to get ready for those facilities before getting our hands on the home hub. A release at some point next year is likely to be at this point.
