The Galaxy S25 Edge is set to be officially unveiled by Samsung on the occasion of a virtual Unpacked event on Monday, May 12, at 8 PM ET. This announcement clears at least one of the many questions that have plagued us since the much-promised thin phone was teased by the company in early-January. A blog post published alongside today’s announcement also drops a few additional hints, but for most of the details, we’ll have to tune in on Monday.
While Samsung is keeping the specifics under wraps, it’s clear the big reveal will be the Galaxy S25 Edge. This blog post explicitly mentions the device and states that it will “…not only set a new standard for what you can do with your smartphone, but also open a new era of innovation in the mobile industry.” That’s a big deal for an industry that’s been struggling with declining sales in recent years.
Intriguingly, the very post mentions how we could perceive the camera of the S25 Edge to be slim-profiled yet with a 200MP sensor as its main cam-the very same as found on the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra.
So, where does that leave Apple’s rumored super thin smartphone—the S25 Edge actually likely has even more premium quality to begin with. For example, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have just a single rear camera and a mix of high-end and budget features. Samsung, on the other hand, promises a combination of flagship-level performance with improved portability in the S25 Edge.
So, what will this flagship-level slim phone cost? And where will it be available? Some recent rumors have pointed to a delayed U.S. launch. It wouldn’t be surprising if it launches first in South Korea. That said, the fact that Samsung U.S. is already offering a $50 credit to customers who reserve the phone is definitely a promising sign.
At least one thing’s certain: we won’t have to wait much longer to find out. The virtual launch event will be streamed across various platforms, including Samsung’s YouTube channel.
