In the beginning of 2025, the top-bound phones are broken by the country, and while most of the results would not surprise you, an unexpected result was that a Google Pixel device actually made a list.
It is no surprise that, globally, Apple’s iPhone lineup is the best selling series of the phone. The iPhones were estimated to make six of the top 10 best selling phones globally in Q1 2025, with Samsung filled in most intervals. But when you see each country personally, the story changes a bit.
Counter -protest research Recently published The breakdown of the best selling phones in some of the world’s largest markets including America, Britain, India, Japan, Germany, France, South Korea and China.
Starting with the US, the latest iphones dominate the list uncertainly, making #4 and #5 spots with about 8% of each market with Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy A16. It is largely shown in Germany, and Apple’s iPhone 16E also takes a slot from Android phones in the UK. Surprisingly, China’s list is also mainly made of iPhone, but both Huawei and Oppo make an appearance. It is a more diverse market, however, the iPhone 16 Pro Max was the best selling device, but only 4% of the total sales was made.
The most dominated region on the iPhone is Japan, with four of the top five spots, but it is also the only area where Google Pixel makes the top five. In particular, Google Pixel 8A was estimated to sell about 5% phones in March 2025. This is interesting for several reasons, at least not that Pixel 8A is more than a year old at this point. Japan is one of the best markets for Pixel phones, however, it is not a huge shock.
In South Korea, Samsung’s home country dominates the Galaxy S25 list, with 21% of the total market in March with Galaxy S25 Ultra. Meanwhile, the base Galaxy S25 was the top-bound phone in France in March, 13% of the total market.
India was the most diverse market ever, with the Vivo Y29 top-bound device, with only 4% market share. Oppo A3X, Redmi 14C, and Redmi A3X are also in the top five with Apple’s iPhone 16.
This data effectively acts as a snapshot of the smartphone market, as it is only based on a month’s data, but it is still interesting to see.
