It seems that Apple will actually jump on iOS 26 this year.
BloombergMark Gurman was first reported that Apple was planning to start to release the version numbers of his software platform. For example, Gurman hopes that Apple will announce iOS 26 instead of iOS 19 in WWDC next month.

“I can independently confirm that the ’26’ version of Apple is branding real,” he said, in a post shared on X on Wednesday.

Gurman said that Apple would use one year-to-year naming conference similar to car manufacturers. The naming conference is expected to expand to all major operating systems of Apple including MACOS. Zivkovic stated that the internal versions of Macos this week were still labeled on Macos 16 at some places, but in Macos 26 others.

Apple should announce all software updates during its WWDC 2025 Kenote, which starts at 10 am on Monday, June 9 at Pacific time.
