IOS 18.4.1, iPados 18.4.1, Macos Sequoia 15.4.1, TVOS 18.4.1, and Visionos 2.4.1 updates that Apple released today includes fixes. For two major weaknessesWhich means that you should install new software as soon as possible.
According to Apple, it is aware of those reports that these weaknesses can be actively exploited in the wild. Apple says that safety flaws were used in potentially “extremely sophisticated attacks against specific targeted persons”.
One of the issues affects coreaudio, and includes a malicious -formulated audio file. Processing the audio stream in the media file can cause code execution. Apple decided the issue of memory corruption with better border checks.
Other vulnerability affects the pointer authentication code, and an attacker can bypass the pointer authentication features with arbitrary reading and writing ability that prevent memory from tampering. Apple removed the weak code to prevent exploitation from working.
All updates are available today, and mainly focus on security reforms. The iOS 18.4.1 also addresses an issue that can prevent some wireless carplay setup from functioning properly in select vehicles.
